Description
The purpose of the Day Camp representative is to create a system in which day camps and the professionals within those spaces are provided with resources and networking opportunities, creating a community of support, and facilitating professional development among day camp professionals.
Qualifications
- Currently working in a day camp setting
- A member of ACA
Experience
- Knowledge of day camp issues and professional development needs (i.e., organizational structure, facilities, staffing, front-line staff, support staff, executive staff, programmatic staff, etc.)
- With the support of ACA staff, have a basic understanding of day camp regulations within ACA, Southeastern.
- Ability to connect and engage with day camp professionals throughout ACA, Southeastern.
Participation Includes
- Serve on the Local Council of Leaders (LCOL). Attend all LCOL and committee meetings and functions (in person, via phone and/or electronically) and be prepared to contribute effectively.
- Actively represent day camp perspectives in role as an LCOL member.
- Review agenda and supporting materials prior to LCOL and committee meetings.
- Serve on committees and offer to take on special assignments as needed.
- Contribute to LCOL annual planning process and implementing of ACA, Southeastern office goals.
- Serve as an ambassador for ACA. Promote camp and the camp profession by sharing ACA resources and membership opportunities with others.
- Staying aware of day camp challenges and opportunities within the ACA, Southeastern field office.
- Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the day camp liaison and provide 2-way communication to ACA Staff about emerging issues.
- Collaborate with other members of the LCOL to ensure day camp representation.
- Support the creation of messaging and marketing materials to ensure they help day camps see the value of ACA events and resources.
- Support the recruitment of day camp committee members, when needed.
- Provide assistance to ACA and LCOL initiatives as needed.
- Share information about ACA with potential new members/camps to ACA.
Time Commitment
The day camp Representative commits to:
· Serve a two-year term. May serve a total of six years.
· Attend 1 in-person and 3 Virtual Local Council of Leaders meetings.
