Service Summary
The Southeastern Camp Conference co-chair leads the conference committee in collaboration with the eastern region ACA professional development manager. The co-chair provides leadership, vision, guidance, and supports the overall planning and implementation of the Southeastern Camp Conference.
Knowledge and Experience
· Ability to connect and engage local volunteers.
· Ability to maintain an open line of communication with the professional development manager.
· Prior experience leading work groups/committees to meet expected outcomes/goals.
· Be an active member with ACA and have a basic understanding of ACA resources.
· Knowledge of the local/regional camp community needs.
Participation Includes
· Working cooperatively with the ACA professional development manager in the design, development, and implementation of the conference.
· Ensure all committee chairs are supported and have clear guidance.
· Staying informed of emerging professional development issues and trends that affect the camp profession and industry.
· Attending the ACA, Southeastern camp conference – full cost of conference registration is covered.
Essential Responsibilities
· Serve as a liaison to the ACA, Southeastern Local Council of Leaders Professional Development Chair.
· Support the eastern region professional development manager in conference site selection and site logistics.
· Support the eastern region professional development manager is selecting conference dates.
· Assist with the recruitment of a diverse selection of conference session proposals.
· Lead the conference committee in selecting keynote speakers.
· Write thank you notes for conference committee members.
· Other duties as needed. 😊
Time Commitment
· Serve at least a 2-year term that allows for seamless transfer of event(s) and institutional knowledge.
· Participate in conference committee meetings once a month during the months of January – August and twice a month in September and October.
