Purpose: The purpose of the central Pennsylvania Representative is to create a system in which members of central Pennsylvania are provided with resources and networking opportunities, creating a community of support and education among state professionals and camps (both members and non-members).
Preferred Knowledge and/or Experience:
- Experience organizing and implementing educational and networking events and activities for small and large groups.
- Knowledge of central Pennsylvania (current issues and topics relevant to the areas).
- Ability to connect and engage local volunteers.
- Be an active member of ACA
General Responsibilities:
- Serve on the Local Council of Leaders (LCOL). Attend all LCOL and committee meetings and functions (in person, via phone and/or electronically) and be prepared to contribute effectively.
- Be informed about the organization’s mission, services, policies and programs.
- Contribute to LCOL annual planning process and implementing of ACA Keystone Regional Field Office goals.
- Review agenda and supporting materials prior to LCOL and committee meetings.
- Serve on committees and offer to take on special assignments as needed.
- Serve as an ambassador for ACA. Promote camp and the camp profession by sharing ACA resources and membership opportunities with others.
- Keep up-to-date on developments in the organization’s field.
- Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.
- Plan events or state meetings as needed, for purposes of professional development, networking or addressing issues.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Serve as contact for ACA members and camps in central Pennsylvania.
- Disseminate information about ACA events and issues to local members/camps.
- Serve as a liaison and provide 2-way communication between members and bring information from the members to the office and from the office to the field.
- Help to organize fall and spring meetings/training/networking events in the state or provide support to already established/organized events.
- Communicate details and logistics of events with Field Office staff at least 4-6 weeks prior to the date of an event.
- Provide assistance to membership and professional development initiatives as needed.
- Provide nominations for local/state volunteers/camps as applicable for the awards process.
- Share information about ACA with potential new members/camps to ACA.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to listen, analyze, think clearly and creatively, work well with individual people and groups, balance volunteer tasks with full-time job, manage time and adhere to deadlines.
- Willingness to prepare for and attend LCOL and committee meetings, make inquiry for more information, take responsibility, and follow through on a given assignment, create connections in and out of the camp environment, cultivate and recruit potential future LCOL members and other volunteers.
- Possess honesty, sensitivity to and tolerance of differing views, a friendly, responsive and patient approach, community-building skills, personal integrity, a dedication to camp and ACA.
