Faith-based Camp Professionals Kindred Committee Member, National
Description
The Faith-based Camp Professionals Kindred Leadership Committee is an operational committee of the American Camp Association. The committee slate will be developed through referrals. The chair will be chosen by the membership of the leadership committee. In partnership and coordination with ACA staff and ACA volunteers, the Faith-based Camp Kindred committee members and chair work to meet the needs of faith-based camps and camp professionals, connecting them to resources and elevating faith-based camp voices in ACA.
Qualifications and Experience
• Work for a faith-based camp or program OR have an interest in faith-based camp programming.
• Knowledge of and passion for camp and the American Camp Association.
• An active member of ACA.
• Volunteer leadership experience preferred, preferably within ACA.
• Experience with strategic thinking, high-level planning, and developing implementation plans.
• Ability to contribute through formal and informal channels and influence.
• Ability to identify needs and provide recommendations.
Participation Includes
• Work with the chair and the committee to plan networking/engagement opportunities and content of interest to faith-based camps.
• Assist in the creation/curation of resources to support faith-based camps, programs, and staff.
• Speak publicly and deliver content.
Essential Responsibilities
• Ability to listen, analyze, think creatively, work well with individuals and groups, balance volunteer tasks with other commitments, manage time, and adhere to deadlines.
• Ability to complete quality projects/initiatives in a timely manner.
• Ability to cultivate and recruit potential future faith-based camp volunteer leaders.
• Possess honesty, be sensitive to and have tolerance of differing views, be friendly, have a responsive and patient approach, have community-building skills, possess personal integrity, and possess dedication to ACA.
• Work with Faith-based Camp Kindred chair, leadership committee, ACA staff, and other ACA volunteers to develop an annual plan of work aligning with ACA’s priorities and the needs of faith-based camp participants.
• Keep current on ACA, Inc. growth strategy initiatives and faith-based camp priorities.
• Follow all applicable ACA policies and procedures.
• Attend all faith-based camp leadership committee meetings (in person or virtual).
Time Commitment
NFP Committee Members commit to:
• Serve a three-year term, renewable for up to two consecutive terms (six years total)
• Attend Faith-based Camp Kindred leadership committee meetings, support the ACA National faith-based event (currently a bagel and coffee cafe), and any other events planned by the committee.
• Project work with committees and task forces is ongoing. Approximately 2-3 hours per quarter.
• Communicate with ACA staff and other volunteers in a timely and professional manner.
